Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Kettle Chips Review

I originally saw these online somewhere and had them on my mind to look for them the next time I went shopping.  Well the next time I went I ended up with a huge basket full of stuff before I even got near the chip aisle.  Knowing I had probably already exceeded my meager budget, I decided to avoid the snack aisle and just head towards the checkout line.

As soon as I decided this I literally came out of one of the aisles and turned the corner and ran smack into a heavenly display of these chips with a huge sign that said “Sale: 2 bags for [some dollar amount I can’t remember]”!  I really thought this was a sign that it was totally meant to be that I buy these chips, and now I was forced to buy 2 bags (of course) since they were such a good deal : )

They had all 3 flavors (Sea Salt, Sour Cream & Onion, & Cheddar) and I picked out one bag of Cheddar and one bag of the Sour Cream & Onion.  The Sour Cream & Onion review is coming soon (I accidentally ate the whole bag before I took pictures so I have to buy another bag darn it hehe).

The kettle chips themselves had great flavor and they were dusted with the vegan cheddar powder, which tastes convincingly cheesy with no funny aftertaste or weird taste or anything.  I’m not a huge chip eater (I don’t ever buy them but I will eat them if they come with a veggie burger at a restaurant). Not that I have anything against them, I just would eat the whole bag if they were around so I try not to keep them around!  I was really intrigued by how Earth Balance would pull off the flavor profiles though and I must say I’m pretty impressed!

The only improvement they can make with these would be to put more cheesy powder on the chips! They are definitely a little skimpy with the powder and it left me trying chip after chip to try to get a little bit more of the taste of it.  Next thing you know they were disappearing quick (hmmm I wonder if this is some kind of sales tactic??!).  I once read that the correct way to flavor ice cream is to actually under flavor it so that it keeps the consumer wanting more.  Well, it works I guess!  I don’t know, I think maybe they are just being skimpy haha!

Has anyone else tried these chips and thought they could use more cheddar flavored powder on them?  I’m talking like enough so that it coats your fingers and you can lick all the awesome powder off after you’re done.  Let us know below!
